NG Time Trial Challenge B

"m'kay"

date: February 8, 2004

It states that the start of the contest was
03feb04 and that the contest ended 06feb04.
06Feb04 was two days ago, so why is this being
submitted today?

Author's Response:

there were 2 groups. group a and group b. this is group b. everyone had to have their stuff done by the 6th. the 7th was spent putting it together. group a was submitted yesterday, group b went today.

are the dates really even that important?

The Great Below

"it's really too bad"

submission: The Great Below
date: January 30, 2004

You were doing fine...damn but i was going to
give you a five...until tricky the clown was
plopped down there at the end. If you want
to make a serious flash movie, then make a
serious flash movie. If you want to
make a joke flash instead, fine. But such an
abrupt, crude transition from 'serious'
to 'joke' comes across as a copout, as if you
couldn't figure out how to finish a serious flash
so you slapped a clown in at the end because you
had to use up a given amount of time.

Author's Response:

I wasn't aiming to make a serious flash movie. It was intended as a tribute to N by Orange Clock, as well as aiming to create an element of surprise to the viewer. Shut the fuck up.

Legend of Link 2

"button problem"

submission: Legend of Link 2
date: January 1, 2004

After viewing the movie, rolling over 'the end'
shows a message that indicates that clicking
returns the viewer to the main menu, but clicking
the button doesn't do anything.

Author's Response:

I've fixed that now, thanks.

Fantasy Quest

"what happened when the character reached 'exit'?"

submission: Fantasy Quest
date: December 29, 2003

It would be better if the character didn't
start from the same place on the screen everytime
he left the inn or the training hut or the armory.
And what happened when the character went through
the 'exit' at the bottom of the screen? Did he
wind up in another village with the exact same
configuration as the one he left? I don't get it.

But you seem to have done a good job with
connecting the character to the arrow keys.

Removed Submission #1

"overall ok"

date: December 6, 2003

Really, it's not all that bad. A few suggestions:
1.use a preloader
2.have the text stay on screen abit longer
3.make the episodes longer

Author's Response:

Thanks. For the next ep. I will use your advice!

DarkBall

"pretty good"

submission: DarkBall
date: December 4, 2003

Just one suggestion:
When the player gets to the screen with the
sillouhette of the deer, an obvious button to
press to make the game continue would be a good
addition.

Not bad graphics, but adding a plot would
really improve things.

Sticks in Reality 2

"pretty good"

Since you asked for suggestions for improvement,
try to keep the camera a tad more steady, or else
make the stick figure graphic stay in one place
relative to the wall when that camera jiggles.

It needs work. Really is better if you finish
a flash first before submitting it.

Democratic Shotout

"on the whole OK"

submission: Democratic Shotout
date: November 15, 2003

Not bad. a couple of suggestions:

1) Put the gunshots that miss on a layer that is
behind the debators; it looks a bit weird to have
the debators pop up from behind the podium and
have the gunshots from a previous miss in front
of their face.

2) When the game ends, display the final score.
